New to Insight Carolinas, the Open Access Plan
The Insight Carolinas Open Access Plan offers a flexible therapy option for individuals who are unable to commit to recurring sessions but still wish to receive therapeutic support on an as-needed basis.
Wondering if you qualify? Any current client of Insight Carolinas is able to join this option. Clients just need to be willing to be seen atleast once a month. To help with flexibility, sessions can occur in-person or virtually.
To ensure continuity of care and appropriately assess ongoing needs, clients are required to attend at least one therapy session per month (in-person or virtually). It is expected that all scheduled appointments are honored and attended. Respectful communication is essential to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Disrespectful, rude, or inappropriate behavior toward any staff member or therapist will not be tolerated under any circumstances and is grounds for removal from the program.
At Insight Carolinas, we are committed to treating all clients with dignity and respect, and we expect the same in return. Virtual sessions require both video and audio. Generally, the client must be physically present in the state of North Carolina unless working with a provider who has additional licensure for other states.
Next steps - How does the program work?
If you would like to join the Open Access Plan, please contact our therapy scheduling team at therapy@insightcarolinas.com. After reaching out, you will receive a set of initial forms that must be completed before your first appointment can be scheduled.
Once your forms are submitted, you will be added to a text notification group. Every Monday, this group receives a link to view available therapy appointments for the current week. This availability page is updated throughout the day as openings change—so if your preferred time isn’t initially listed, we encourage you to check back periodically.
Please note that availability is not guaranteed on any specific day or time. If you believe you may benefit from a session during the week, we recommend booking as early as possible.
If you find a therapist you connect with and prefer a consistent schedule, we encourage you to transition to a recurring therapy plan, which offers a reserved weekly time slot with the same therapist and more consistent care.
Will I have the same therapist each time?
No. The benefit of the Open Access Plan is the flexibility to book appointments on short notice based on your availability. Our staff therapists maintain regular weekly schedules reserved for their recurring clients. Open Access appointments become available only when changes occur in a therapist’s schedule, resulting in an open time slot.
If you find that you connect well with a particular therapist, we encourage you to consider transitioning to a recurring therapy schedule, whether weekly, biweekly, or monthly, to ensure consistent care and a reserved appointment time.
Can I be removed from the program?
Yes. While the Open Access Plan offers greater flexibility, any appointment you schedule is expected to be kept. Because these sessions are often booked on short notice, it is assumed that you are fully available and able to attend at the time selected. If you are unable to attend, you must notify our staff as soon as possible so the appointment can be offered to another client.
No-show appointments will incur a fee of $82.50, charged to the card on file.
Two no-shows will result in removal from the program, and you will be ineligible to rejoin for six months.
Any disrespectful or inappropriate behavior toward staff or therapists will result in immediate dismissal from the program, with no option to reschedule.
How much are sessions?
If you are using health insurance, your out-of-pocket cost will depend on the details of your individual benefit plan. To determine your coverage and potential costs, please call the Member Services number listed on the back of your insurance card. Ask about your benefits for the following service codes: 90791, 90846, and 90837.
If you are covered by a Medicaid plan contracted with our practice, your out-of-pocket cost should be $0.
You can find a list of accepted insurance plans on our website at www.insightcarolinas.com. For assistance verifying your coverage or for additional insurance-related questions, please contact our billing department at billing@insightcarolinas.com
For self-pay clients, the fee is $175 per session. Please note that missed appointments without proper notice will incur a no-show fee of $82.50 (half the self-pay rate).
Still wondering if The Open Access Plan at Insight Carolinas is right for you? Let’s share two examples of client situations that may resonate:
Example 1: Sally Sample travels out of state for work and cannot always be available on the same date or time but wants to work with a therapist to discuss her anxiety and build coping skills. She'd like to be seen once or twice a month and is open to working with more than one provider. Sally joins the program and sees that Insight therapist Laura Shrum, LCAS, LCSWA has availability this week at 1pm so Sally claims that spot. In two weeks, she checks again and sees that Laura is not available, but this time Ellie Graef LCSW has a 12pm appointment that will work for her.
Example 2: Eric Example works in the food service industry and his schedule changes weekly. He normally does not know what days or hours he will work until the new schedule is posted each Monday morning. Now that he knows this week's schedule, he can look at who is available on time that work for his schedule. He does not have to go into work until 10am each day this week and sees that Savannah Pappalardo, LCASA, LCMHCA has an 8:30am appointment on Wednesday and Claudia Cardona, LCSW has an 8:00am on Thursday. He can select either appointment and be seen this week.
